Candelilla wax is a vegan wax and is used as an alternative to beeswax. It is harder than beeswax and softer than carnauba wax. It is used as a consistency agent for many cosmetic products. Cosmetics with candelilla wax are easier to apply and feel pleasant on the skin. Candelilla wax is also often used in the food industry as a separating and coating agent for chocolate, nuts, coffee beans and many other products.
Candelilla wax is obtained from spurge plants (Euphorbiacea), which grow in northeastern Mexico and southwestern Texas, for example. To protect themselves from heat and water loss, the shoots and leaves of the plant secrete a thin wax coating that is intended to reduce the evaporation of the plant's own water. To obtain it, the shoots are cut off and placed in hot water. The wax melts there and can then be skimmed off the water surface.
You will receive 30 g of candelilla wax in a 50 ml tin screw-top jar. The jar is ideal as a container for homemade lip balm, for example. This means we can offer you plastic-free, reusable packaging. Simply store the wax in another jar at home.
Important: The tin can is not dishwasher safe.
