The bag is made of 100% certified organic cotton and meets the standards of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Fairtrade Cotton and the Green Button. The seals ensure that the cotton is of organically controlled origin and minimize social risks such as child and forced labor, human rights violations, discrimination and unfair pay. The majority of the production is based on renewable energies (e.g. solar energy), which are continually being expanded.

All production steps, from processing the cotton to spinning and finishing the products, take place in the southernmost state of India, Tamil Nadu. This ensures short transport routes. For many years, Memo has been working with a German agency that personally oversees the manufacturing plants on site from product development to shipping the finished product on its behalf. In addition to checking the working conditions and the remuneration of employees, the focus here is above all on quality assurance in the product, production, documentation and in relation to ethical and social standards. A complaints mechanism has been set up for employees in the manufacturing plant. In addition, employees have the opportunity to address complaints directly to the agency.
