This is how a good feeling works
Most people only start thinking about mindfulness, gratitude and their own feelings when they are suffering in some way. That is understandable, but wouldn't it be great if we learned these important tools for mental health as children? In a playful way, with lots of curiosity and without need? That can A good feeling afford.
The book uses charming monsters to explain the 20 most important feelings in children's everyday lives. And it does so without pointing fingers or judging. Because A good feeling has a core message: All feelings are good feelings! Even painful emotions such as loneliness, sadness and shame have a function because they convey important information that something is missing or wrong. If children learn from an early age to recognize and name their feelings, they will be able to deal with all the emotions that children experience so unfiltered and suddenly in a responsible, self-determined way.
A good feeling is undated, lasts for 100 days and is suitable for children aged 4 to 11. For independent completion, we recommend using it from age 6, or as soon as the child can write independently.
All feelings are good feelings!
With beautiful illustrations, the 20 most important feelings are brought to children's attention and explained clearly. After just a few days, even the smallest people can tell them apart. Marking off each evening which of these emotional monsters have knocked on your door during the day quickly becomes a valuable routine and helps to process the impressions.
But you won't find weekly or monthly reflections in A Good Feeling, because these are too long units of time for children. Reflecting on just one day can be a real challenge. That's why it can become a nice habit for adults and children to review the day together in the evening. What happened? What was particularly exciting? What was particularly nice? This process helps sort out thoughts and focus on the good things. But this ritual also creates space to talk about things that are depressing.
The puzzle and craft pages
Puzzles and craft ideas, which can be found every ten days, provide relaxation and motivation.
We recommend the following craft materials: colored pens, a glue stick, scissors.
In addition, all of the monsters are included on a sticker sheet that is included in each book. A bookmark ribbon and a fold-out page with an overview of all of the emotions round off the book.
Design and Sustainability
A good feeling was designed by the award-winning designer duo Jan Lenarz and Desirée Themsfeldt (Red Dot Design Award, German Design Award, German Sustainability Award for Design). The font was developed with children for children and is particularly easy to read as it combines the advantages of print and cursive. The illustrations are by the illustrator Nicholas Larimer. The psychological counseling was provided by the renowned child and adolescent psychotherapist and Spiegel bestseller author Lena Kuhlmann ( “ Psyche? Everyone has one! ” , Eden Books).
A good feeling is bound locally by hand in one of the oldest printing works in the world (since 1593). The entire production process, including all transport routes, is climate-neutral. It is printed exclusively on 100% recycled paper. This uses 60% less energy, 70% less water and produces 88% less CO 2 than conventional paper. The printing inks are based on vegetable oil, Cradle to Cradle certified and therefore even compostable. Free from mineral oil or other toxic chemicals. A good feeling is completely vegan. The books are also not shrink-wrapped. Love books, hate plastic!
