Hair care: conditioner, oils, brushes
Do you wash your hair plastic-free but aren't completely satisfied with the result? We have tips for you on how to care for your hair naturally and in an environmentally friendly way.
Do you have a solid shampoo or hair soap? Great. Time to turn your attention to the next plastic bottle in the bathroom. Conditioner.
If your hair needs care or you just prefer it a little smoother, you can use a solid conditioner or a solid hair balm after washing. The solid conditioner is mixed differently depending on the manufacturer. The solid conditioner from Nelumbo is more creamy. The solid hair balm from Rosenrot foams wonderfully and is easy to spread through the hair. The base is coconut or sugar surfactants. Supplemented with cocoa or shea butter and refined with oils such as argan oil. The ingredients are mixed together like with solid shampoo and then pressed into a mold.
Solid conditioner, solid hair balm, solid hair rinse all have the same goal: to make hair soft, smooth and easy to comb. They provide an extra portion of moisture and nourish damaged ends.
Here it is worth taking another look at the ingredients: Even solid hair care products can contain unhealthy sulphates. These are substances that are supposed to have a foaming or strong cleansing effect, but are unhealthy for our skin. What we do not have in our products and should be avoided:
Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (short name: ALS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (short name: SLES), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (short name: SLS).
Application : Lather in your hand, distribute over wet lengths and ends, allow to work for a short time. Rinse thoroughly. The product can be used sparingly and is not necessary every time you wash your hair.
Oil and hair are old friends. Oil makes damaged and stressed hair supple. It contains wonderful nutrients that are also good for the scalp. Drugstores now sell hair oils with 100 different ingredients with incomprehensible names. But they should really only contain oil, right? Yep, that's exactly how it is. There are premixed hair oils like the hair oil from Rosenrot, which contains argan oil, broccoli seed oil and jojoba oil. Argan oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil and the like can also be used directly as hair care products or mixed together to create an individual oil as required. You could almost say that almost any oil is suitable for hair care. Except for frying oils, of course.
Here are some oils presented:
Argan oil : Moisturizes and has anti-inflammatory properties. Gives shine and suppleness to dry, brittle and split-prone hair. Very popular hair oil.
Jojoba oil : Jojoba oil is liquid wax from the seeds of the jojoba plant and is particularly nourishing for skin and hair. Particularly recommended for dry and brittle hair.
Coconut oil : the all-rounder among oils. It contains many antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Provides hair and skin with plenty of moisture.
Olive oil: Provides the scalp and hair with a lot of moisture and also retains it in the hair as it forms a protective film around the hair.
Tip: Mix with a few drops of essential oil for fragrance and extra nutrients.
For example, tea tree oil : has an antibacterial effect and can therefore reduce the production of dandruff .
Application: As a treatment: Apply the hair oil directly to dry or wet hair. If your hair is oily, leave out the roots.
As a treatment: massage the oil into wet hair and scalp before washing, or leave it in dry hair overnight.
Brushing your hair is a well-known hair care method. The aim is to distribute your hair oil from the scalp throughout your hair. To achieve this, you should brush your hair thoroughly every day for several minutes. In our grandmothers' time, it was said that 100 brush strokes a day would make your hair beautiful. Tip for the ultimate moment of relaxation: have someone brush your hair. Of course, this isn't realistic every day, but it's a real treat every now and then.
