How are unpackaged goods delivered?

This is one of the questions we are asked most often. Many people still cannot really imagine what everyday life is like for us. Unfortunately, our goods do not fly completely loose into our containers. But we also do not receive hundreds of small plastic bags and quietly and secretly transfer them.

So how does the product arrive?

We receive our products directly from carefully selected organic manufacturers. We receive all loose products in large containers, so-called primary packaging, from 5 kg (sweets) to 25 kg (rice, pasta, muesli, etc.). These are mostly made of cardboard and are recycled when they are empty. So there is still some waste left over. You don't have to be a math genius to calculate how much less waste is generated if 25 kg of oat flakes are delivered in one bag instead of 50 bags. What we also leave out is sales and transport packaging (secondary & tertiary packaging). In other words, the packaging that is packed extra around 10 bags of oat flakes in traditional retail.

We even have a complete zero-waste supply chain for some of our products, coffee, oils and shampoos for example. The containers are simply picked up by the manufacturer and refilled. Non-food products such as cosmetics are also delivered as unpackaged as possible. Small cardboard packaging from all areas of the store comes to our online shop and is reused there as shipping packaging. We receive the cleaning products in large canisters. We are currently testing a deposit system for this too. We make containers for the store from the leftovers and we regularly make the rest available to you for your own upcycling projects. We are also constantly looking for new ways to become even more sustainable and are working on improving our delivery processes.

Carolin
